It’s New Moon, Budding Moon because this is the Month the trees break their buds. In Britain it’s a time when the wild hedges and woodlands are full of flowers. In my garden I’ve got Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Cherry, Wild Plum, Quince, Flowering Currant, the Hazels are very close to breaking bud, and the Rowans too. The Oak leaves have come through, and the Ash buds are swelling. The roses, wild and not, have leafed up beautifully. In fact all the plants are burgeoning with new growth, and that despite the 40-50mph winds we’ve had this Spring, along with torrential rain.
